The maximum charging current is 3A and is only available for the two extreme channels and only when the middle channels are not in use - the maximum charger with this current can charge 1 battery at a time.If 2 batteries are present, the maximum charging current will be 2A. If 4 cells are present, the maximum charging current will be 1A. The maximum charging current will be limited to 0.5A.

What is TC/CC/CV charging? It is a three-stage charging process for lithium-ion cells that ensures that the cell is in good condition by charging at the right current at each stage and completing the charging process at the right time.
The different stages of the TC/CC/CV process are:
- TC phase: cells discharged below 2.9 V are "woken up" at a lower current.
- CC phase: after reaching 2,9 V, the cell is charged at a constant current between 0,1 A and 1 A (depending on the power supply used and the number of batteries charged).
- CV phase: when the cell is nearly charged, the charger switches to charging at a decreasing current until the voltage on the cell reaches 4,2 V. When 4,2 V is reached, the charging process is complete and the battery is fully charged.

Charged batteries left in the charger will undergo a natural self-discharge process. Charging of lithium-ion batteries will continue when the battery voltage drops below 3,9 V.Charging of Ni-MH batteries will not resume when the voltage drops due to self-discharge.

The Xtar VC8 charger performs adeep discharge and reactivation of the 0 V cells. Many chargers on the market are not capable of recharging such batteries.Here is the Xtar VC8 charger, which in many cases allows you to "save" such cells.Simply insert a deeply discharged battery into the VC8 charger, as with normal charging, the charger will detect the discharged cell and attempt to reactivate it.

Caution: Cells discharged below a certain level are irreparably damaged and may no longer be activated.Avoid discharging Li-ion and Ni-MH batteries too deeply, which can significantly reduce their durability and capacity or cause them to fail completely.

TheXtar VC8 charger comes with a USB cable. A power supply is not included. QC3 is required to power the charger.A weaker power supply can be used, the VC8 will adjust the charging current according to the capabilities of the power supply.
