Their advantages include a sealed casing and gel-form electrolyte, preventing leakage, allowing storage in any position, and increasing shock resistance. Gel Battery Durability One of the biggest advantages of gel batteries is their lifespan. Among those available on the market, this type boasts the longest, lasting up to several years with proper use. Importantly, gel batteries also exhibit greater resistance to variable and extreme weather conditions. Automatic Discharge (25°C) Gel batteries can be stored for many months without charging. Their capacity decreases to: • 91% after 3 months • 82% after 6 months • 64% after 9 months Choosing a Gel Battery Appropriate dimensions are not everything. When choosing a battery, pay attention to its capacity – it should not be more than 110% or less than 90% of the capacity recommended for the device you plan to power. The output voltage is also important and must be very close to the recommended value (+/- 0.2V). Applications of Gel Batteries Gel batteries are used in motorcycles, golf carts, and lawnmowers. They are also used in emergency power supplies, photovoltaic installations, alarm systems, and electric toys. Furthermore, these batteries can be found in vehicles with a large number of electrical devices, such as campers, where they power electronic equipment, not the vehicle's starter. Choosing a Charger for a Gel Battery For a charger to function properly and not damage the battery, it must have appropriately selected current and voltage. These values will differ during various charging stages, so it is worthwhile to choose an automatic charger that will not only adjust the appropriate charging current and voltage but also switch off when the battery is fully charged. **NOTE!
