Vipow 12V/12Ah Gel Battery Gel batteries have become an alternative to classic lead-acid batteries. Unlike the latter, gel models are maintenance-free, meaning they do not require electrolyte replenishment. Their advantages include a sealed casing and gel-form electrolyte, preventing leakage and making them more resistant to shocks and suitable for any position. Gel Battery Durability One of the biggest advantages of gel batteries is their lifespan. Properly used, they can last up to several years. Importantly, gel batteries are also more resistant to variable and extreme weather conditions. Automatic Discharge (25°C) Gel batteries can be stored for many months without charging. Their capacity drops to: * 91% after 3 months * 82% after 6 months * 64% after 9 months Choosing a Gel Battery Appropriate dimensions are not everything. When choosing a battery, pay attention to its capacity – it should not be more than 110% or less than 90% of the capacity recommended for the device you plan to power. The output voltage must also be very close to the recommended value (+/-0.2V). Applications of Gel Batteries Gel batteries are used in motorcycles, golf carts, and lawnmowers. They are also used in emergency power supplies, photovoltaic installations, alarm systems, and electric toys. Furthermore, these batteries can be found in cars with a large number of electrical devices, such as campers, where they power electronic equipment, not the engine. Choose the Right Charger for Your Gel Battery For a charger to function properly and not damage the battery, it must have appropriately selected current and voltage. These values will differ during various charging stages, so it is worthwhile to choose an automatic charger that will not only adjust the appropriate charging current and voltage but also switch off when the battery is fully charged.
